What to do in Laigueglia

A fishing village of narrow lanes, with the beach in front and Alassio a step away.

Laigueglia

Laigueglia is still a fishing village: narrow lanes, coloured houses, boats pulled up on the sand and a beach that starts where the centre ends. You arrive, park the car and do not need it again for days.

In the village

The old villageThe narrow lanes run parallel to the sea, with small shops and the twin bell towers of San Matteo visible from across the bay.
The beachFine sand, beach clubs and free stretches, with a seabed that slopes gently: one of the most family-friendly beaches of the western Ligurian coast.
The seafront walkIn the evening everyone walks the seafront to the point, past ice cream shops and fish restaurants: the ritual of the village.
On the waterThe sea here is good for swimming, windsurfing and boat trips; in winter the area fills with cyclists in training.

Nearby

Colla MicheriA tiny hamlet on the hill, restored by the explorer Thor Heyerdahl: an hour on foot from the village.
AlassioTwo kilometres away: the promenade, the Muretto with its signed tiles, the shops. You can walk there along the sea.
CervoOne of the most beautiful villages in Liguria, perched above the sea, with the Corallini church and summer concerts on its terrace.
Gallinara islandVisible all along the coast and a protected area: you go around it by boat, on trips leaving from Alassio.

When to come

Summer is the full season, June to September, and the best weeks are booked months ahead. Spring and autumn are for walkers and cyclists: mild weather and a quiet village.
